Dr. David Galen Reese, age 82, beloved father and grandfather, passed away at his home in Orlando, Florida, on Monday, May 13th, 2024.

Galen, as he was known, was born on April 27th, 1942 to James and Alma Reese in Salt Lake City, Utah. After Galen graduated from Kemmerer High School in Wyoming in 1960, he went on to receive his Bachelor’s of Chemistry and Master’s of Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He was awarded a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1971.

After graduating, he started his first job in Kemmerer, Wyoming with the Kemmerer Mine. A few years later, he joined Union Carbide as a chemical engineer, moving the family to Clear Lake City, Texas.

After 20 years, Galen found his true calling as a mentor and behavioral consultant, starting his own firm, Reese Consulting. His success led to him becoming a partner at Continuous Learning Group (CLG), where he applied his knowledge, skills, and easy-going personality to develop business leaders and assist organizations with implementing change and enhancing leadership capability. Galen retired from CLG in 2007.

While earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Colorado School of Mines, Galen met and married Patricia Ann Snyder from Rock Springs, Wyoming. In the following years, Galen and Patti had three children – Jacqueline Reece (née Reese), Michelle Reese, and David Reese.

In 1998 Galen and Patti moved from Clear Lake City back to their beloved Golden, Colorado to enjoy the place they began their life together so many years earlier, eventually building their dream house overlooking the beautiful mountains.

After retiring from CLG, Galen spent his time skiing and becoming an expert cyclist, eventually completing a five-day cycling ride across the Rocky Mountains, known as “Ride the Rockies.” Galen spent his final years in Orlando, Florida, being surrounded and cared for by his adoring family.

Galen was preceded in death by his wife Patti, his sister Val and brother Jim. He is survived by his children, Jacqueline, Michelle, and David, and his grandchildren, Jacey and Jansen Reece, and Siri and Keely Reese.
