Margaret Louise (Buckermann) Bay, born on May 30, 1930 to William and Anna of the Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully at her home in Oviedo, FL on May 8, 2024.

Margaret had one sibling, Anna, who predeceased her in 2022. Margaret graduated from James Monroe High School in 1947 and was a stenographer when she met her husband, Gerhard, in 1949. They married in 1951, moved from the Bronx to Mount Vernon, NY and then to Yonkers, where they lived for almost (40) years. Both of their children (Linda and Mark) were brought up in Yonkers and now reside in Florida with their spouses (Daniel and Elizabeth, respectively). Upon retirement, Margaret and her husband moved to Whiting, NJ , where Margaret remained (after Gerhard’s passing in 2014) until late 2022.

Margaret was the best mother and wife she could be and will be remembered by her son and daughter for the many things she taught them. In her younger days, Margaret enjoyed sewing, crocheting and needlepoint, creating many beautiful things. She also liked to cook and bake, using recipes passed on from previous generations. Margaret worked from home before that was even a thought, for a typing service. Margaret did a ton of research into the family tree, way before the advent of Ancestry.com. Margaret and her husband did quite a bit of traveling when they retired, seeing much of the United States and parts of Europe. Margaret and her husband enjoyed music and dancing, which was typically shared with long-time friends.

Margaret led a long life, which was filled with many happy moments and accomplishments and treasured times with family and friends. She is survived by a niece (Christine), nephews (Peter, Joseph, Scott and Charles) and cousins.

Please keep Margaret in your thoughts and prayers and remember those special moments you may have shared with her over the years and smile!
