The NBA has released its 2024-25 schedule, and nine of the Orlando Magic’s games will be on national TV.
Last season, the Magic were led by forwards Paolo Banchero (first-time All-Star) and Franz Wagner, along with scrappy point guard Jalen Suggs (All-Defensive Second Team). The team finished with a 47-35 record, earning a fifth seed in the playoffs and taking the Cleveland Cavaliers to Game 7 of the opening round before being eliminated.
During the offseason, the Magic signed two-time NBA champ Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a 3&D player who will look to spread the floor offensively while providing a formidable defensive backcourt with Suggs.
With the 18th pick of the 2024 draft, the Magic selected 23-year-old Tristan da Silva, a versatile 6’9” forward who is expected to mesh well with the team’s strong defensive identity.
The Magic’s two biggest stars, Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, are coming off of impressive seasons. Banchero averaged 22.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists, earning his first All-Star appearance, while Wagner contributed an average of 19.7 points along with 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
Despite having one of the youngest rosters in the NBA, the Magic are entering the 2024-25 season with high expectations and expect to be in contention for one of the Eastern Conference’s top seeds come playoff time.
The Magic will kick off the upcoming season on the road against the Miami Heat on Wednesday, October 23.
The first week of the season includes home games against the Brooklyn Nets (Friday, October 25) and Indiana Pacers (Monday, October 28), as well as a nationally televised road game against the Memphis Grizzlies (Saturday, October 26) and a trip to Chicago to face the Bulls (Wednesday, October 30).
