Orlando man killed after pickup truck crashes into semi

A 41-year-old Orlando man was killed early Saturday morning after he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a semi-truck in Orange County.

The fatal accident occurred at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, near the intersection of Jones Avenue and Laughlin Road.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 1997 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Jones Avenue, east of the Laughlin Road intersection, when the driver and sole occupant lost control of the vehicle.

As a result, the pickup truck veered off the roadway, and its left side collided with a semi-truck that was stopped at a driveway on Jones Avenue.

The pickup truck’s driver was transported to AdventHealth Apopka, where he was pronounced deceased. A trooper noted in the report that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The sole occupant of the semi-truck, a 70-year-old Apopka man, was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
