A 24-year-old man was arrested in Texas for his alleged involvement in a homicide that occurred in Kissimmee on Thanksgiving morning.

According to the Kissimmee Police Department, at around 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 28, officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a deceased body had been found along the Emory Street canal.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a deceased male victim.

Detectives initially treated the victim’s death as “suspicious,” though an ensuing investigation revealed that the incident was a homicide.

KPD stated that “diligent investigative work” led detectives to identifying 24-year-old Romero Florez-Perez as the suspect in this case.

A warrant was issued for Florez-Perez’s arrest, and multiple agencies assisted with locating him. Those agencies included the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and San Antonio Police Department.

In a media release on Wednesday, December 11, KPD stated that Florez-Perez was attempting to flee the country when he was located and apprehended in San Antonio, Texas.

Florez-Perez was arrested on a first-degree murder charge, and he is currently being held in Texas as he awaits extradition back to Osceola County. Upon his return, he will be transported to the Osceola County Jail.

No further details were provided by Kissimmee police regarding the homicide investigation or the identity of the male victim.
