The Ocoee Police Department is asking for help from the public to identify male skeletal remains that were found over eight years ago in a field near Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County.
According to OPD, the human remains were found in April of 2016 in a field located near Florida’s Turnpike and the Western Beltway, near mile marker 267.
After examining the remains, the Orange County Medical Examiner estimates that the man’s death occurred sometime between 2013 and 2014. He is described as a Black male who stood approximately 5’7” tall, and he appeared to have “well-healed fractures” on his nose, according to police.
In addition, several items were located near the man’s body, including a set of “GM” keys with a couple of customer reward cards.
OPD stated that a genetic profile of the man revealed that he is of Jamaican descent, and his family had origins in Saint Mary and Saint Ann, Jamaica. The police department also believes that he may have had family in the Miami area of South Florida.
In a social media post on Thursday, December 19, 2024, OPD released a facial composite sketch of the man in hopes that someone in the community recognizes him.
“Please help us give Mr. John Doe his name back,” said OPD.
