Elinor Mallon Macdonald was born in Flushing, New York to her loving parents, Anne and John Mallon. She spent her happy childhood years in Bayside and Port Washington, NY. Ellie attended Bayside High School and graduated from Port Washington High School. She attended Centenary Junior College in Hacketstown, New Jersey.

Ellie met her beloved husband, Cameron A. Macdonald when her family moved to Port Washington, and they married in 1956. Those around them often observed what a beautiful love they shared throughout their marriage. Ellie and Cam truly adored each other, and it was an inspiration to witness. They began a life together in Marlborough, MA where their three cherished children were born. In 1963, they relocated to Florida, where Ellie devoted her time to volunteering at her kids’ school, as a den mother for Cub Scouts, and serving as a Pink Lady at Winter Park Hospital. With her kind, wise and nurturing spirit, Ellie had a wonderful way of making people feel comfortable and valued, and those roles were a great match for her.

Ellie loved tennis, Orlando Magic games, chair yoga, crossword puzzles, celebrating birthdays and decorating for the holidays. She was a wonderful host and made every special occasion memorable. She treasured her vacations with Cam in favorite locations, including Vermont, Maine, the Rockies, Alaska, and New Mexico. Ellie was a nature and animal lover and appreciated beautiful flowers. Watching the birds at her feeders brought her comfort and joy.

Above all, Ellie loved her family and was always there to offer needed advice or just to chat. She provided her family with “oodles” of love and it was one of life’s greatest gifts to be on the receiving end. Ellie had a special bond with her granddaughter, Elizabeth, and the two of them made countless memories baking together – especially muffins! She was smart, thoughtful and kind to everyone she met. She was supportive, brave, a good listener and a “second mother” to many. She was the best Mom in the world and a loyal friend.

The family would like to recognize two very special women who took impeccable care of and loved her for 8+ years: Mimose (Mimi) Antoine and Antoinette Chin.

Ellie was predeceased by her beloved husband Cam, in 2017. She is survived by their children, Glenn Macdonald, Melissa (Mike) Bolton, Laura Pelletier (Peter), granddaughter Elizabeth Pelletier Sastre (Patrick) and step-granddaughters Cyndi Bolton Cushman and Teri Bolton Glass. She is also survived by loving nieces, Linda Mallon and Laurie Nebel and nephew John Mallon. Ellie was also predeceased by her brother, Philip J. Mallon (Eileen).
