A 22-year-old Palm Bay man was killed early Monday morning after he was struck by a car on State Road 528 in Brevard County.
The crash occurred on SR 528, in the merge lane for the exit ramp to State Road 3 (Courtenay Parkway), at around 12:20 a.m. on Monday, January 13, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP stated that the Palm Bay man was walking in the merge lane when he entered the direct path of a 2019 Honda Accord, which was heading eastbound on SR 528.
A trooper noted in the report that the man was wearing dark clothing, and the Honda’s driver – a 31-year-old Melbourne man – advised that he did not see the pedestrian.
As a result, the front of the Honda struck the pedestrian. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The Honda’s two occupants – the driver and a 16-year-old female passenger – were not injured.
The fatal crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
