Grace Elizabeth Calabro, 97, passed away on December 30, 2024. Grace was predeceased by her
husband Anthony (2023), her five sisters and one brother. Grace is survived by her three children:
Donna Jacobs, Anthony Calabro (Sarah) and Steve Calabro (Jody), four grandchildren Sara, Tony, Cara, Nicholas, and one great-grandchild, Kennedy.
Grace was born and raised in New York City. Grace and Anthony met while working at J.P. Stevens & Company in New York City and married on May 16, 1948. They moved to Massapequa, Long Island, New York in 1954, where they raised their three children. In Massapequa, they enjoyed many years of cooking, traveling, boating, fishing, golfing, attending New York Giant games, and celebrating holidays with family and friends.
Tony and Grace retired to Longwood, Florida in 1986. They enjoyed many new friendships through bowling, bocce, and the Orlando Italian-American Club. Grace and Tony were extremely fortunate to move to Oakmonte Village, Lake Mary, Florida in 2014, where they gradually transitioned from independent living to assisted living, and finally to memory care. They were blessed to be well cared for with compassion and love.
A woman of faith, Grace was always praying and humming or singing the hymns she recalled from her youth. Grace collected the words to songs, poetry, and prayers that she loved. She also loved to add her own rhymes and riddles as part of her gifts at Christmas and birthdays. The riddles were a source of laughter and joy for everyone.
