A convicted felon from Winter Park is facing over a decade behind bars after pleading guilty to a firearm possession charge.
On Wednesday, February 19, Acting U.S. Attorney Sara C. Sweeney announced that 23-year-old Bailey Joseph Friese has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the plea agreement, Friese was caught selling a Glock pistol in December of 2023. At the time he sold the firearm, he had a previous felony conviction for burglary.
As a convicted felon, Friese is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law.
Friese faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison. He has also agreed to forfeit the Glock firearm involved in the offense.
A sentencing date for Friese has not been scheduled yet.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Seminole County City County Investigative Bureau. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Varadan.
Additionally, this case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
