Luella Aurella James-Jackson, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on February 9, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born on January 9, 1939, to the late Olivia James and George Washington James Sr.

Luella dedicated her life to education and community service. She retired from Booker High School. She also helped countless students earn their GEDs through the night school program. Even after retirement, her passion for education continued as she remained active in the GED program, ensuring that everyone had a chance to succeed.

She was a proud graduate of Gibbs Junior College in St. Petersburg (Class of 1970) and Lincoln Memorial High School (Class of 1958). Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of St. Andrew’s AME Church, where she found joy and fellowship.

Luella’s greatest pride was her family. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Pamela V. Jackson; her cherished grandchildren, Shambrea Holloman-Obas (Reynold Obas), Fredrick Jackson, Danyelle Holloman, Daisha Holloman, and Deanna Pearson; and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of loving relatives and friends who will forever treasure her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.

A memorial service will be held on March 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s AME Church, 203 17th Street W, Palmetto, FL 34221.

Luella’s legacy of love, education, and service will continue to shine through the lives of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
