A 63-year-old bicyclist from St. Cloud died on Friday night after he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a roadway in Osceola County.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, at the intersection of E Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and Bill Beck Boulevard in Kissimmee.
FHP stated that the pickup truck, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling westbound on E Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway when it approached the intersection of Bill Beck Boulevard in the outside lane.
The bicyclist was on the east side of the intersection in the crosswalk, heading from south to north, when the pickup truck entered the intersection. A trooper noted in the report that the traffic light was green at the time.
As the pickup truck proceeded through the intersection, its front section struck the bicyclist. The report stated that the bicyclist was transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck, a 56-year-old Kissimmee man, was not injured and remained on-scene.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
