A man is recovering in a Volusia County hospital after a co-worker allegedly shot him in the neck on Friday evening.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 600 block of Glenhaven Avenue in Pierson at around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, August 29, in reference to shots being fired, according to VCSO.

When deputies arrived on-scene, they found a male victim who was in the driver’s seat of a minivan that was parked in a driveway. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his neck.

A deputy applied pressure to the gunshot wound until additional deputies and paramedics arrived at the incident location.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. In an update the following morning, VCSO stated that the victim is in “serious but stable condition,” and he is expected to make a full recovery.

While conducting an investigation, detectives identified a co-worker of the victim as the shooting suspect in this case.

According to VCSO, the co-worker “walked up to the vehicle, shot the victim and ran away.”

On Saturday, August 30, VCSO stated in a social media post that the co-worker has not been located by law enforcement.

The investigation remains ongoing. No further details were provided by VCSO regarding the incident, the victim’s identity, or the identity of the suspected shooter.
