For the second time in two weeks, Volusia County deputies have arrested an 11-year-old student for allegedly making a “kill list.”
On Monday, November 10, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced that an 11-year-old male student at Highbanks Learning Center in Deltona was arrested earlier in the day for allegedly “writing out a kill list.”
VCSO stated that while investigating the incident, the school resource deputy at Highbanks Learning Center confirmed that the student in question did not have access to any weapons.
However, the student was placed under arrest and charged with one count of making a written threat to kill, which is a felony.
“While school threats are down recently, (Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood) is continuing to stress to students and parents that these types of threats will result in felony charges,” said VCSO in a social media post.
Last month, an 11-year-old female student at an Ormond Beach learning center was arrested after she allegedly wrote a “kill list” at her desk.
