A Brevard County drug dealer, who was caught with hundreds of grams of methamphetamine, over 40 grams of fentanyl, and several loaded firearms in his possession, will spend the next three decades in federal prison.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida announced that 33-year-old Melbourne resident Quentes Durrelle Simpson has been sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for distributing and possessing with intent to distribute controlled substances and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
The case against Simpson had gone to trial in October of 2025, with jurors finding him guilty of the above charges.
According to court records and evidence presented at trial, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Palm Bay Police Department used a confidential source to conduct two controlled purchases of drugs from Simpson at his residence.
During those purchases, Simpson sold over 220 grams of “pure methamphetamine” and approximately seven grams of fentanyl to the confidential source.
A search warrant was obtained and then executed at Simpson’s home, and law enforcement officers seized the following items from the residence: over 700 grams of methamphetamine, over 46 grams of fentanyl, over 40 grams of cocaine, unspecified drug processing materials, two loaded firearms, a loaded drum magazine, and more than $36,000 in cash.
At the time of the search, Simpson was a multi-time felon who had been previously convicted of carrying a concealed firearm, resisting an officer with violence, battering a law enforcement officer, fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and possessing a firearm by a convicted felon.
Since Simpson is a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.
Following Simpson’s sentencing, he was ordered by the court to forfeit all firearms and ammunition that were used in the offense, along with $600 from his drug distribution proceeds.
This case was investigated by multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Palm Bay Police Department, Melbourne Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
