911 call

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on a felony charge after he allegedly made a false report about an active shooter at an Orlando high school.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the teen called 911 on Monday, March 2, and falsely told the dispatcher that there was an active shooter at University High School (2450 Cougar Way in Orlando).

“That call elicited a massive law enforcement response” on Monday afternoon, said OCSO in a media release.

The deputies who responded to University High School discovered that the 911 call was a hoax, and there was no threat posed to the students or faculty members.

“Someone thought it would be hilarious to call 911 and make up a story that is every parent’s and student’s nightmare,” stated OCSO.

The 14-year-old boy accused of making the 911 call was located and placed under arrest. He is being charged with making a hoax threat against a school, which is a felony.
