Cat walking outside

Seminole County Animal Services has launched its Working Cat Program, which aims to give free-spirited cats a second chance to thrive in environments that suit their natural instincts.

“Not every cat is meant for couch cuddles and that’s okay!” said Seminole County Animal Services in a social media post.

In order to help the cats that cannot be returned and are “not suited for traditional adoption,” SCAS is offering a program that places these cats in “working settings.” These locations, such as barns, warehouses, greenhouses, and other privately owned properties, will provide a safe area for the cats to roam around.

The cats will receive food, water, shelter, and dedicated care, all while providing “natural, eco-friendly pest control.”

According to SCAS, this program “ensures (the cats) can live comfortably and safely in a space that suits their instincts and personality.”

Anyone interested in welcoming a working cat onto their property should contact Seminole County Animal Services at 407-665-5201.
