Anne Neely Boston was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 4th, 1935.
She was the youngest child of Eunice and Ross Neely, Sr., and four older brothers and sisters who preceded her in death. She spent Summers in Newmarket and Winchester, TN with her family growing up. She attended Shades Valley High School in Homewood, and was involved in a number of Clubs and activities.
She attended Birmingham Southern, where she met the love of her life Robert “Bob” Boston, Sr.. They were married in May 1956, and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in 2025. As Bob moved up within U.S. Pipe and Foundry, they moved from Birmingham to Park Forest, IL to Nashville, TN to Winter Park, FL and finally back to Birmingham in 1981. Anne and Bob have been members of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church for almost 50 years. They traveled throughout the world and raised a wonderful family.
Affectionately known as the “Unofficial Mayor of Vestavia Hills”, Anne served the City in various capacities for 45 years. She held many leadership positions within the Beautification Board and the Historical Society, while simultaneously treasuring her time as the Director of the Vestavia Belles. In addition, she was a Senior Citizen Volunteer Driver and a Hostess for the Birmingham Decorator Showcase. In 2016, she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
She is survived in death by Husband Bob, Son Robert “Bo” Boston, Jr. of Alpharetta, GA (Daughter-in-law Leigh, Grandson Chase and Granddaughter Keller) and Daughter Melissa Boston Ridolfo of Orlando, FL (Son-in-law Mike, Grandson Ryan, his wife Erin, Great-granddaughter Victoria; Grandson Steven and his wife Cherie.
A Memorial Service will be held at Dawson Hills Baptist Church on Friday, March 13th from Noon to 1 p.m., with a reception to follow on the adjacent patio.
