A Daytona Beach police officer recently used his own money to buy protective boots for a dog struggling to walk on hot pavement.
On Saturday, May 2, shortly after 10:35 a.m., a Daytona Beach Police Department officer was on patrol when he spotted a gentleman walking his dog, Brew.

The officer observed that Brew was having a difficult time walking on the hot sidewalk.
“With temperatures rising, those surfaces can be dangerously hot for our four-legged friends,” said DBPD in a social media post.
After seeing Brew’s struggles on the hot surface, the officer decided to use his own funds to purchase protective boots to help keep Brew’s paws safe and comfortable. The officer also shared a DBPD animal care package, which was filled with donated treats and toys for Brew to enjoy.
“Moments like these remind us that our mission goes beyond enforcement,” said the police department. “We’re here to look out for everyone in our community, no matter how many legs they have.”
