A Deltona woman and her 15-year-old babysitter were arrested after a Facebook argument allegedly led to them shooting at another woman’s car.
On Tuesday, May 5, at around 11:50 p.m., Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence located on Hemingway Drive in Deltona in reference to a shooting incident, according to VCSCO.
A female victim reported that she had been arguing with another woman, identified as 29-year-old Ines Jonjic, on Facebook. According to the victim, she drove to Jonjic’s home earlier in the night to “have a face-to-face conversation” with her.
When the victim arrived at the residence in her vehicle, she alleged that two individuals were “standing in the driveway” and “holding handguns.” The victim told law enforcement that both individuals proceeded to aim at her vehicle before opening fire.
VCSO stated that the victim saw “muzzle flashes,” and one of her vehicle’s rear windows shattered. She drove away from the incident location and soon discovered that her front passenger-side tire was flat.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies remained outside of Jonjic’s home for several hours. After making multiple P.A. announcements, Jonjic reportedly exited the residence at around 5:30 a.m. with her children and 15-year-old babysitter.
While searching the incident location, deputies allegedly found “two different types of shell casings” in Jonjic’s garage. During an interview with investigators, Jonjic reportedly “admitted to shooting at the [victim’s] vehicle,” and VCSO stated that her firearm was recovered in her bedroom.
Deputies also interviewed Jonjic’s babysitter, and he denied any involvement in the shooting. A second gun was not located, according to VCSO.
Jonjic and her babysitter were both arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle.
In addition, the babysitter was charged with possession of a firearm by a delinquent, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and trafficking in cocaine after detectives reportedly found “bags of drugs” in a backpack in his bedroom.
