A 22-year-old man was arrested on a manslaughter charge following the fatal shooting of his friend at a home in Kissimmee.
On Wednesday, May 6, at around 8:40 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence located at 2691 Chatham Circle in Kissimmee after receiving reports of a shooting incident.
When deputies arrived at the home, they found a male victim, later identified as Orlando Jose Canizales, who had sustained a gunshot wound.
Canizales was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
OCSO launched an investigation, which reportedly revealed that one of Canizales’ friends, identified as Carlos Garcia, was “mishandling” a loaded firearm at the incident location when it discharged, striking Canizales.
Garcia was placed under arrest and booked into Osceola County Jail. He is being charged with manslaughter with a firearm.
