A 23-year-old man from Hawaii was killed and his passenger was injured following a single-vehicle rollover crash on State Road 528 in Orange County early Monday morning.
The fatal crash occurred shortly after 4:35 a.m. on Monday, May 25, in the westbound lanes of SR 528 near mile marker 2, which is located just west of Universal Boulevard.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the driver of a 2024 Honda Civic was traveling westbound when, for unknown reasons, the sedan veered off the right side of the roadway.
The Honda then proceeded to strike a light pole and multiple trees before overturning.
The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A trooper noted in the report that the driver’s next of kin has not yet been notified.
A 20-year-old male passenger from Pennsylvania was hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Both of the Honda’s occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
FHP stated that the accident remains under investigation.
