A 20-year-old Orlando man has been sentenced to life in federal prison for operating a sextortion scheme that targeted more than 50 child victims on social media.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida recently announced the life sentence for 20-year-old Montrey Roseberry. He was previously found guilty in February 2026 of coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, as well as the production and possession of child sex abuse material.

According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Roseberry operated the extortion scheme from at least July 2023 through April 2024.

Investigators stated that Roseberry impersonated a woman on social media to identify young victims and coerce them into producing sexually explicit images and videos.

Roseberry then used that initial material to blackmail the children into producing “increasingly perverse content,” which included “sadomasochism, coprophilia, bestiality, and the sexual abuse of other children.”

If the victims did not comply with his demands, Roseberry threatened to send the explicit videos and images to their family members, friends, and classmates. In some cases, Roseberry also threatened the child victims with death, according to the release.

To further frighten the victims into compliance, Roseberry sent the children photographs of their own homes and the names of their schools, friends, and relatives.

“The terror he inflicted is heart wrenching,” said Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Tampa Division Special Agent in Charge Matthew Fodor in a statement. “Mr. Roseberry threatened and blackmailed his young victims into committing horrific acts.”

In his statement, Fodor urged parents and children to remain cautious on social media and gaming platforms, noting that predators frequently use those spaces to locate victims.

This case was investigated by the FBI as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative designed to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
