A 22-year-old Cocoa man was arrested on a first-degree murder charge after he allegedly shot and killed another man during an argument outside a Brevard County home.

On Wednesday, June 3, at around 6:20 p.m., Brevard County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a local residence in reference to a shooting incident that occurred in the front yard, according to BCSO.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found the male victim, identified as Xavier Carroll, who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

BCSO launched an investigation, which reportedly revealed that Carroll had gotten into an argument with another man, identified as Terrance Quintes Skinner, Jr.

When the verbal altercation escalated, Skinner allegedly pulled out a gun and fired it at Carroll, striking him multiple times.

Skinner was located at the incident location, and he was placed under arrest and booked into Brevard County Jail. He remains in custody without bond, and he is facing the following charges: first-degree premeditated murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jail records show that Skinner is scheduled to appear in a Brevard County courtroom on Tuesday, June 30.

“Agents believe this case to be an isolated incident,” said BCSO in a media release.
