An Osceola County woman in her 90s who was unable to cook her meals received an unexpected act of kindness from local deputies and a St. Cloud business.
In a social media post on Wednesday, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office stated that the elderly resident had recently contacted 911 after her stove abruptly stopped working.
Although the situation was not a traditional law enforcement matter, the sheriff’s office stated that its Community Services and Outreach team immediately sprang into action to find a solution.
When members of the outreach team contacted Hodgins Appliance Store in St. Cloud and explained the elderly woman’s predicament, the local business “generously stepped forward and donated a replacement stove.”

Thanks to OCSO and Hodgins Appliance Store, the elderly woman received her new stove and is once again able to prepare her own meals in the comfort of her home.
“This story is a reminder that caring for our community often goes beyond public safety,” said the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. “It is about looking out for one another, especially our seniors, and making sure no one feels forgotten when facing a difficult situation.”
OCSO thanked both the outreach team and the appliance store for their compassion, adding that the smallest acts of kindness can often have the biggest impact.
