A 48-year-old woman is facing a drug trafficking charge after police reportedly found dozens of grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Clermont.

On Wednesday, June 24, members of the Clermont Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. Highway 27 and Citrus Tower Boulevard. Officers then made contact with the driver, identified as Lakeland resident Christina Marie Cooley, according to the agency.

During the traffic stop, the officers reportedly found the following items in Cooley’s possession: approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, clear plastic baggies, and “glass smoking devices.”

Cooley was placed under arrest without incident and booked into Lake County Jail, where she remains in custody. Her bond has been set at $51,000, and she is being charged with trafficking in methamphetamine (less than 200 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jail records show that Cooley is scheduled to appear in a Lake County courtroom at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 20.
