A fiery head-on collision on Orange Avenue in Orlando left one man dead and two others seriously injured on Wednesday morning.

The fatal collision occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. on the Orange Avenue overpass near Wetherbee Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

FHP stated that a Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 26-year-old Arcadia man, was traveling southbound in the inside lane of Orange Avenue when it veered off the roadway to the left for unknown reasons.

The Chevrolet proceeded to cross the center median and entered the northbound lanes, directly into the path of an oncoming Toyota 4-Runner.

The Toyota’s two occupants – a 61-year-old man (driver) and 33-year-old man (passenger), both from Kissimmee – were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition. While at the hospital, the driver later died from his injuries.

The Impala’s driver was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

The deadly crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
