Julian Klettner Dominick, Jr., entered his Heavenly home on June 24, 2026.

Jay, a lifelong Orlandoan, was born on February 27, 1949, at Orange Memorial Hospital. He was the firstborn to his parents Julian Dominick and Margaret Teague “Peggy” Dominick. He attended Fern Creek Elementary School, Glenridge Junior High School, and graduated from Edgewater High School in 1967.

Thereafter, Jay attended the University of Florida, where he joined the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, and graduated in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army through the ROTC program. He went on to the basic officer’s course in the Air Defense Artillery Division at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.

Jay attended Cumberland Law School in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1975. After graduating, he returned to Orlando, where he practiced with his father’s law firm, Fishback, Davis, Dominick, and Bennett. He also joined the Kiwanis Club in 1977 and was a member for nearly 50 years.

In March 1980, he opened his own law office and practiced continuously as a solo practitioner, primarily in the area of wills, estates, trusts, and guardianships for more than 40 years.

In 1982, he married his love, Debbie, and was the proud father of two daughters, Ashlyn and Amy, both of whom also graduated from the University of Florida. Together, they built a life valuing faith and family.

Humility, selflessness, patience, and conscientiousness were virtues of Jay’s character. He was perhaps best known for his love and devotion to his family. He never met a stranger, and could easily be spotted – or heard – extending a warm greeting with his signature positive attitude. Jay’s happy place was fishing in the surf at New Smyrna Beach. He was impossible to beat in a game of pool and was once the club champion at The University Club. There was no problem he could not lovingly solve, no home improvement project he could not conquer, and no conversation he could not carry.

Jay is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife, Debbie, daughters Ashlyn (Jon) Cooper and Amy (Patrick) Mixson, along with four grandsons and two granddaughters. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Dominick Pedersen and Mary Ann Dominick, his nephew David (Alison) Pedersen, Jr., as well as many cousins and dear friends.

A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, where he was a longtime member, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to the Heart of the City Foundation, 106 E. Church Street, Orlando, FL.
