A regular customer at a Deltona barbershop was arrested on Thursday morning after he allegedly struck two barbers in the head with a long-barreled revolver and threatened to kill one of them in front of a young child.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to TallPat Barbershop in Deltona at around 9:05 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, after receiving reports of an armed robbery incident, according to the agency.
An investigation reportedly revealed that a man, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Catraie Boone, entered the business while wearing a bandana over his face. He was also allegedly carrying a long-barreled revolver wrapped in red tape.
While inside the barbershop, Boone allegedly pointed the revolver at the barbers and demanded cash before pistol-whipping a female barber in the head and threatening to kill her. During this incident, a 5-year-old child was inside the shop, according to VCSO.
A second barber reportedly charged at Boone in an effort to wrestle the firearm away, leading to a physical altercation that spilled outside the business. During the fight, Boone allegedly struck the second barber in the head with the gun before fleeing the scene.
“Both barbers had large laceration wounds to their heads and were treated on scene,” said VCSO in a media release.
Despite the male suspect’s face covering, both barbers recognized him as Boone due to him being a regular customer at the barbershop, according to the sheriff’s office.
While searching the area, deputies reportedly found the revolver in the nearby woods, approximately 350 feet from the barbershop.
Shortly after 9:35 a.m., a VCSO helicopter helped track Boone to his residence on Beal Street, which is around a mile away from the incident location. Deputies on the ground made contact with Boone, placing him under arrest and transporting him to Volusia County Jail.
As of Friday, July 24, Boone remains in custody without bond. Jail records show that he is facing the following charges: robbery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, child abuse, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, and violation of probation.
