A man and woman were arrested after police found them selling fentanyl and other drugs from their hotel room in Volusia County.
Christopher Watson, 45, and Sara Segarra, 41, were arrested on Friday, January 6, after the execution of a search warrant by the Volusia Bureau of Investigation, the West Volusia Narcotics Task Force, and Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Authorities executed the narcotics search warrant at room 212 at the Quality Inn located at 445 S. Volusia Avenue in Orange City.
The organizations had been investigating Watson and had witnessed numerous hand-to-hand transactions in the days leading up to the arrest.
On Friday night, at around 3 a.m., detectives secured Watson and two other juvenile females that were in the room. Those females were later returned to their guardians.
During their search of the room, multiple illicit drugs were recovered, including 84.1 grams of fentanyl, 3 grams of crack cocaine, 2 grams of powder cocaine, 12 grams of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and $3,590 in cash.
Segarra claimed she was unaware of the narcotics in the room, but police found her personal belongings in a safe with the drugs.
Watson and Segarra were transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail and are both facing multiple charges, including trafficking in fentanyl, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, and two counts of child neglect/endangerment, among others. Both were given bonds over $400,000.
