Fight over $5,000 in Osceola neighborhood leaves one dead

A fight between two men over closing costs for an Osceola property led to the shooting death of one of the men, who was in the United States on an expired work visa.

Gany Narimanovich Djurabayev, 41, was arrested on Tuesday, January 17, and charged with the murder of 31-year-old Bekzod Nishonbove.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez provided details of the fatal incident.

According to Lopez, Nishonbove and Djurabayev were known to each other and had been neighbors in the past. Witnesses say that at sometime before 8:30 p.m. on Monday, the two men began arguing outside of a residence in Osceola County. The argument was about a $5,000 down payment for a property.

The fight turned physical, with the Nishonbove attacking Djurabayev and punching him in the face. During the fight, Djurabayev retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot Nishonbove multiple times, according to police.

After he shot him, Djurabayev drove himself and Nishonbove to a local hospital, where Nishonbove was pronounced deceased.

Deputies arrived at the scene of the incident at around 8:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired. Police canvassed the area, finding bullet casings and blood, and contacted local hospitals until they found the men.

According to Lopez, Djurabayev made spontaneous statements to police indicating he was the one responsible for shooting Nishonbove.

Both men are from Uzbekistan, with Nishonbove’s work visa having expired in March, according to police.

Djurabayev was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail, where he is being held on no bond.
