Kaya celebrating grand opening of new Filipino fine dining in Mills50 district

A new restaurant that serves Filipino food in a casual, fine dining setting is celebrating its grand opening with a festival this weekend.

Kaya will host a Filipino Freedom Festival on Saturday and Sunday, January 28-29 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. to celebrate the grand opening of its new restaurant at 618 N. Thornton Avenue.

The event is free to attend and will include vendors, entertainment, and food exemplifying the culture of the Philippines.

Sampaguita Ice Cream, which recently opened a new location in the Mills 50 District, will attend the event, as well as Pinoy Cravings, OverRice, Nam Nam Yums, Hapa Halo Grill, and multiple other restaurants.

Entertainment will be provided by DJ Rubox, Fo’i Melah, Minutes + Seconds, and Leandro Allegro Music, among other groups.

Opened last year, Kaya has been operating by reservations only for several weeks and will open to full time hours after the event.
