Man fires shots into Longwood bar after being told to leave

A 28-year-old man from Eustis is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly fired a gun ten times into a Longwood bar that he was asked to leave moments before.

Christopher Nordick was arrested by Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputies just after midnight on Monday, April 10, in connection with a shooting incident that took place earlier Sunday evening.

According to an arrest report, sheriff’s office deputies responded to The Back Porch, located at 145 Wekiva Springs Road in Longwood, in reference to a shooting in progress at around 11:12 p.m.

During their investigation, police were told that Nordick, who is known to others inside the business, was having drinks at the restaurant. Nordick allegedly began to bother several patrons of the restaurant before he was told to leave by staff.

Witnesses say Nordick walked out of the business and returned a few moments later to the front entrance doors. At that point, he began shooting through the front door of the business in the direction of numerous patrons at the bar.

As shots rang out and Nordick unloaded an entire clip of ammunition, people began to hide and take cover inside the establishment. The shooting incident was captured on video surveillance, which was reviewed by law enforcement authorities.

After reviewing the footage, deputies and local police officers began searching for Nordick. He was found within a mile of the shooting location, at the intersection of Sabal Palm Drive South and Wekiva Springs Road.

Nordick was in possession of a black, .45 caliber Glock 30S handgun that had one round of ammunition in the chamber and an empty magazine clip capable of holding ten rounds of ammunition.

During their investigation, crime scene investigators located exactly ten spent .45 caliber shell casings that matched the round left in Nordick’s handgun.

During an interview, Nordick admitted to returning to the business in possession of a firearm, but did not admit that he fired any shots.

Nordick was arrested and is currently being held at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Seminole County. He faces multiple charges including attempted homicide, shooting into an occupied structure, criminal mischief, and carrying a concealed firearm without a license. His next court date is scheduled for May 30 at 9 a.m., according to court records.
