Boater thrown from vessel, rescued on Lake Jesup

Emergency personnel were called to Lake Jesup on Tuesday after a boater was thrown from his boat near the dock.

On Tuesday, May 9, ten units from the Seminole County Fire Department responded to the Lake Jesup Park, located at 5921 Sanford Avenue in Sanford, after receiving reports of a boater in the water.

According to authorities, the boater was thrown from his boat near the boat dock.

A rescue map shows that crews made their way from the dock to Cabbage Hammock Point, a peninsula located a few thousand feet from the dock.

Contact was made with the boater and he was rescued with minor injuries.

Witnesses say the unattended boat continued circling in the water. Crews were able to subdue the boat and bring it back to the boat ramp.
