The Orlando Carnival Downtown group will host its annual J’ouvert this weekend.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 28, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dezerland Park, which is located at 5250 International Drive in Orlando.
Sometimes known as the heart of the Carnival, J’ouvert, which translates to day break or morning, signals the start of the bacchanalia. The event is steeped in tradition and will feature a variety of participants, known as Jab Jabs, covering themselves from head to toe in paint, chocolate, mud, white powder, or other materials.
