Orlando man killed after being ejected from truck on SR 429

A 43-year-old Orlando man was killed on SR 429 on Wednesday afternoon after his pickup truck overturned and he was ejected from the vehicle.

According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place at 2:14 p.m. on State Road 429, near mile marker 17 (Tilden Road) in Winter Garden.

The man was driving a 2022 Dodge RAM northbound on SR 429, when, for unknown reasons, he veered right and collided with the outside shoulder guardrail.

The crash caused the vehicle to overturn and the man was ejected from the vehicle as a result. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His passenger, a 21-year-old Orlando man, was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The northbound lanes of SR 429 were blocked from mile marker 15 (New Independence Parkway) to mile marker 17 as of 3:30 p.m. Traffic homicide investigators are currently on the scene to determine the cause of the fatal collision.
