26-year-old killed, 2 others ejected from Tesla on SR 417

A 26-year-old man was killed and two other people were seriously injured after their Tesla overturned multiple times on State Road 417, ejecting all three occupants from the vehicle.

The fatal accident took place near mile marker 29 on SR 417 at around 2:37 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.

According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, an Orlando man was driving a 2021 Tesla Model S northbound on SR 417, approaching Curry Ford Road in the outside lane.

Witnesses advised that the vehicle was traveling above the posted speed limit before it lost control and began to rotate. The vehicle then struck the outside shoulder guardrail and began overturning.

The car became engulfed in flames and all three occupants of the vehicle were ejected.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both passengers, who are from Orlando, were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
