16-year-old killed in Sanford parking lot

Sanford police are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy at a local apartment complex this weekend.

On Sunday, Sanford Police Department offices received a call just after 5:45 p.m. regarding a shooting that occurred at the Stratford Pointe Apartments (1700 Old England Loop).

Upon arrival, officers located 16-year-old Jamarcus Parker suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Parker was transported to a local area hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

During their investigation, police determined that Parker and a group of friends were hanging out in the parking lot of the apartment complex before the shooting.

While the group was standing in the parking lot, a burgundy KIA drove into the apartment complex and two individuals exited the vehicle.

The two individuals then approached the group and began shooting before they got back into the KIA and left the complex.

Authorities say they have identified the “vehicle of interest” and the “registered owner,” and that their investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to please contact the Sanford Police Department at 407-688-5070, or the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
