Man who received kilos of cocaine shipped through mail sentenced to 6 years in jail

A 30-year-old man was sentenced to six years behind bars for receiving a shipment of nearly two kilograms of cocaine through U.S. Mail.

Christian Arroyo-Rivera of Kissimmee was sentenced to six years in federal prison for possession of over 500 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as possession of a firearm.

According to court records, the Drug Enforcement Administration was tipped off by the United States Postal Inspection Service about a suspicious parcel on May 25, 2022. The parcel was addressed to “Carlos Arroyo” and was scheduled to be shipped the next day from Puerto Rico to an address in Kissimmee.

Authorities conducted a controlled delivery of the parcel to Arroyo-Rivera’s mailbox on May 26, 2022. After he retrieved the package, Arroyo-Rivera was stopped and taken into custody.

According to records, the parcel contained nearly two kilograms of cocaine.

Additionally, DEA agents recovered a loaded Polymer80, 9mm pistol and an extended magazine in Arroyo-Rivera’s vehicle. Arroyo-Rivera was previously convicted of a felony and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Arroyo-Rivera pled guilty to the charges on August 23, 2023.
