2 men killed in shooting at illegal nightclub in Pine Hills, deputies say

(UPDATE – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement on Saturday, March 23: “Investigators have determined the shooting did not occur at Creole Bakery. It occurred at the same address, but in a unit adjacent to the bakery itself. We apologize for the erroneous information that was previously released in the very early stages of the investigation. It was the only information available at that time.“)

Two men were shot and killed early Saturday morning at a restaurant-turned-nightclub in Pine Hills.

At around 3:35 a.m., Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Creole Bakery (2711 N Pine Hills Road in Orlando) in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found two men who had sustained gunshot wounds, according to OCSO.

Both male victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their names and ages were not released by the sheriff’s office.

OCSO stated that the incident location, Creole Bakery, was operating as an “illicit after-hours club” at the time of the shooting. The investigation into the fatal shooting is still in the “very early” stages, and no further details were released by the sheriff’s office regarding any possible suspects or a motive.

Two hours after the shooting occurred, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement:

“We know that Illicit after-hours operations attract criminal activity, violence and illegal drugs. That’s why Sheriff Mina pushed for harsher penalties for illegal alcohol sales in this legislative session. That legislation – which passed in the Florida House and Senate unanimously – makes illegal alcohol sales a felony and gives law enforcement a powerful tool to eliminate these dangerous clubs and safeguard our communities.”
