$5K reward offered for info in murder of Sanford teen

The Sanford Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a teenager earlier this month, and a cash reward is being offered to encourage anyone with information to come forward.

On Tuesday, April 9, at around 8 p.m., a teenage boy arrived at HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital. He had sustained an apparent gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to Sanford police.

Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the teen victim died from his injuries. He was later identified as 17-year-old Sadarion Cosby.

During an ensuing investigation, SPD learned that the shooting took place near the intersection of Ellen Place and Scott Drive. According to the police department, Sadarion and three unidentified individuals had approached a parked car with unknown occupants when shots were fired.

Moments later, the vehicle and unidentified individuals fled from the scene. SPD stated that one of those individuals briefly helped bring Sadarion to a nearby home before fleeing as well.

In a media release, Sanford police shared a photo of a dark in color Kia K-5 sedan (pictured below) that is considered a “vehicle of interest” in this homicide case.
