Democrat vying to replace Val Demings dispels rumor he texted ‘female colleagues for sex’

A congressional candidate hoping to replace Val Demings was forced to issue a statement on Thursday dispelling a text that was sent to registered voters that alleges he solicited female colleagues for sex in the “middle of the night.”

Maxwell Alejandro Frost, who is running against nine other individuals for the Democratic nomination for Florida’s 10th Congressional District, posted a message across social media on Thursday to discredit the text, labeling it a “lie.”

“There’s a disgusting push poll being sent to folks alleging that I ‘demanded sex’ from co-workers in the middle of the night,” said Frost in a statement. “This is a lie and desperate attempt to stifle our momentum. Sexual assault/abuse is serious and should not be weaponized like this.”

The text message sent to registered voters alleges that Frost sent “text messages in the middle of the night to his female colleagues asking for sex.” It claims that Frost “continued these demands” after women rejected him.

Currently, there are ten candidates vying for the Democratic nomination, and two running for the Republican nomination to replace Val Demmings. Demings is campaigning to replace Marco Rubio in the United States Senate.
