Disney, Universal, SeaWorld closing theme parks on Wednesday, Thursday

Orlando’s theme parks will close up shop in preparation for Hurricane Ian.

The parks made the announcement today in light of Hurricane Ian’s impending impact, which should be felt in Central Florida beginning Wednesday.

Walt Disney World announced that its parks and water parks will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Additionally, Disney Springs will be closed on Wednesday and will likely be closed on Thursday as well.

Universal Studios made a similar announcement.

“Due to Hurricane Ian, our Theme Parks, including CityWalk and Halloween Horror Nights, are closed September 28-29,” reads a post from the organization. The company anticipates reopening on Friday, September 30. Currently, all of Universal’s hotels are at full capacity and will remain operational in order to take care of their guests. For those who have purchased tickets, the company is offering instructions on how to proceed.

SeaWorld will close its main park, as well as Aquatica Orlando and Discovery Cove, on both Wednesday and Thursday.
