Orange County nearing 320,000 COVID-19 cases

Florida Department of Health reported earlier this week that Orange County’s 14-day rolling COVID-19 positivity rate is 40.79%.

The new information was released by the Orange County FDOH and presented by Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings this week.

The report shows that a total of 319,144 residents in Orange County have tested positive for the virus and that since last week, the positivity rate has increased by around 10%.

According to state records, of Orange County’s 1,457,445 residents, around 74%, or just over one million, have been vaccinated against the virus.

In a press release, county officials stressed that it is “important for residents to remember that the best way to stay healthy is to continue following CDC guidelines to prevent getting sick.”

Orange County Government’s Health Services Department currently operates drive-thru COVID-19 testing at a variety of sites around the county every day of the week, including Barnett Park (4801 W. Colonial Dr – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m), Econ Soccer Complex (8035 Yates Road – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and the South Orange Youth Sports Complex (11800 S. Orange Avenue – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). All facilities operate until the time specified or until daily capacity is reached.

On Monday, the city opened a free drive-thru testing site at Camping World Stadium, located at 1 Citrus Bowl Place. That facility is also open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until daily capacity is reached.

For any residents interested in receiving a vaccination or booster in Orange County, multiple locations around the county are functioning as vaccination sites. These include Barnett Park, Orange County Public Schools, Federal Retail Pharmacies, and the VA Orlando Health Care, among others.
