Martha Pratt Whitcomb

Winter Park, Florida – Martha Thom Pratt Whitcomb passed away peacefully on October 20, 2022, in Winter Park, Florida. She was born December 30, 1925, in Haines City, Florida. She subsequently moved to Bradenton, Florida with her parents Carol Wyatt Pratt and Daniel Sims Pratt and brothers Harry, Daniel, and Richard. Martha was Salutatorian of her high school graduating class at Bradenton High School in 1943.

She was a pioneer in the banking industry, becoming one of the first female bank officers in Florida at Ellis Banks.

Martha was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Harold, whom she met when he worked at her brother Harry’s accounting firm. She loved to travel the world, but most enjoyed spending time with her family.

Martha is survived by her daughter Carol Whitcomb Kropp, son John (Yvonne), grandchildren Megan Abbott (Pravar), Courtney Bugia (Gaston), Sara Brewbaker (Will) and Lindsey O’Brien (Michael), Taylor Whitcomb (Hannah) and Zachary Whitcomb. She is also survived by her brother Richard and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on November 4, 2022, at 1PM, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, Florida. A private interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
