Rouse Road reopens after extended closure from Hurricane Ian flooding

Orange County officials announced the reopening of Rouse Road on Friday afternoon.

According to the Orange County Public Works Roads and Drainage Division, the roadway restoration on Rouse Road was completed by contractor crews that were hired by the county department.

All lanes on the highway, which remained closed since September 29 after flooding from Hurricane Ian, are now reopened.

A traffic shift had been in place after the floodwaters caused severe damage to the road. Northbound traffic was previously being diverted onto the southbound lane, between Buck Road and University Boulevard.

Officials say that although crews are still working along the road to make final repairs, traffic is not being impeded by that work. Drivers are still advised to use caution when traveling in the area.
