Ramon was born in a small town in Puerto Rico known as Maricao where the population was about 7,000 when he was born in 1941.

His parents, Belen Hernandez and Francisco Gonzalez combined had six children six girls, Auroa, Elohida, Elena, Haydee, Minerva, Lucy, and one male, Ramon. Due to humble beginnings and financial challenges, Ramon had a limited education, but this didn’t discourage him from making a better life for himself and later for his family.

On or about 1961 he left Puerto Rico to pursue a better life and ended up in the Bronx, New York. In 1961 he met Miriam Curio who he wedded in 1962 and together they raised four children; Norma, Margie (who are fraternal twins), Daniel and years later Lenin. They honored their wedding vows and were married until “death do us part,” 58 years. His wife departed over 2.5 years before him, leaving him a widow at 79 years of age.

Ramon was a hardworking man, who worked, at times two jobs, and did what he needed to do support his family. He raised his family and worked in Queens, New York for 57 years before retiring to Florida. He was a quiet man who spent more time listening to conversation than participating. He enjoyed maintaining the outside greenery and playing with the Rookie (those who knew him well knows who the Rookie is.) He showed his love not by words, but by action and lead by example.

He leaves behind his four sisters and four children mentioned above, five grandchildren: Jessica, Gabrielle, Antonio, Sebastian, and Danielle; and two great grandchildren, Leon and Ivy.

He will be terribly missed but he will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on August 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Fisk Funeral Home, located at 1107 Massachusetts Avenue in Saint Cloud.

Fire lieutenant hospitalized after burns from Orlando church roof collapse

0

An Orange County Fire Rescue lieutenant was hospitalized after receiving first and second degree burns during a fire that caused the roof of an Orlando church to collapse.

On Tuesday, August 22, while OCFR crews were returning to their headquarters after responding to a call, they encountered an active fire at The Center Arena Church (10 N Hiawassee Road).

Firefighters immediately initiated evacuation and began an interior search of the building to ensure that no occupants were inside.

During that search, and while crews were battling flames outside, the conditions of the fire rapidly deteriorated, which resulted in the roof collapsing.

A lieutenant was engulfed in the extreme heat and heavy smoke, which triggered a mayday call.

Kissimmee couple purchased, sold firearms used in crimes across the world

0

A Kissimmee couple is being accused of purchasing over 100 firearms and selling them to individuals who used them in the commissions of crimes around the world.

On Wednesday, 35-year-old Kingsley Wilson and 41-year-old Viviana Rodriguez were indicted on charges of dealing in firearms without a license, making a materially false statement to a federally licensed firearms dealer, and causing an FLL to maintain false information in its official records.

According to authorities, between January 2022 and July 2023, Wilson purchased 89 firearms from multiple gun dealers across the Middle District of Florida. During that same period, Rodriguez purchased approximately 40 firearms.

While purchasing the firearms, both individuals “falsely certified” on ATF Form 4473s (Firearm Transaction Records) that they were the “actual transferee/buyer” of the firearms.

In fact, Wilson and Rodriguez purchased the firearms for other individuals.

Ten of the firearms that were purchased by Wilson have already been recovered by law enforcement officials at crime scenes in the Bahamas and Canada.

If convicted, Wilson and Rodriguez each face a maximum penalty of 5 years in federal prison for dealing in firearms without a license, 10 years for each count of making a materially false statement to an FFL, and 5 years for each count of causing an FFL to maintain false information in its official records.
