Vehicle fire in Kissimmee is sixth such incident in local area this month

A vehicle fire in Kissimmee this week joined a growing list of similar incidents that have occurred throughout the area this month.

Osceola County Fire Rescue crews responded to a vehicle fire on Pleasant Oaks Court in Kissimmee on Monday, September 19.

Engines 43 and 64, as well as Rescue 43, Battalion 4, and Tanker 64 responded to the fire, which exhibited multiple flare-ups that were caught on the following video.

Those flare-ups show the moments when water contacts magnesium in the vehicle, according to fire fighting officials.

“Dealing with these violent explosions requires special training and equipment on our part to respond safely,” reads a statement from OCFR.

Last week, Seminole County Fire Department crews were called to Goldfinch Court in Oviedo in reference to a vehicle fire at a duplex. Upon arrival, crews discovered that a vehicle inside of one of the duplex’s garages had caught fire.
