Altamonte Springs man killed in single vehicle accident

An Altamonte Springs man was killed early this morning after his car was involved in a single-vehicle accident.

The incident took place around 2:40 a.m. near the intersection of John Young Parkway and Forest City Road, in Orange County.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the 24-year-old man was traveling northbound on John Young Parkway before his vehicle left the roadway, drove onto the grass median, and struck a sign. The vehicle continued through the median and struck a support structure for a railroad signal before overturning onto its side.

The driver, who has not been identified as part of FHP policy, was pronounced dead on the scene.
