No Parking signs approved for Orange Avenue near high school

A new set of “no parking” signs will soon be displayed along a busy stretch of Orange Avenue near a local high school.

During Tuesday’s meeting of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners, officials approved the installation of “No Parking, Stopping, Standing” signs on the west side of Orange Avenue from Cypress Creek High School’s bus loop entrance to Bear Crossing Boulevard.

Cypress Creek High School is located at 1101 Bear Crossing Drive, just north of the Florida Turnpike and State Road 417 interchange.

According to county records, Orange County Public School officials requested the signs in order to address pedestrian safety incidences and hazardous driving conditions created by vehicles parking on the west side of the road.

Additionally, the school district raised concerns about vehicles having difficulty driving onto campus, as several drivers had been parking on Orange Avenue, effectively blocking the school’s entrance.

The installation was approved as part of the commission’s consent agenda on Tuesday morning.
